Phoenix to go, YTT and a very busy October So here we are on the first day of October and I'm still walking around in shorts and t-shirts while planning Halloween and the Ice Sculpture Trail - climate change is real!! After a bit of a pre-wedding hiccup we've finally got our Phoenix on Demand service up and running - it's free for annual and monthly members and we'll be rolling some free viewings out as soon as we've worked out how to do it! Following the great success of our inaugural Yoga Teacher Training course earlier this year we are pleased to announce our second course will be starting on October 24th. We've still got a couple of places available - full details on the web page. Proud to be Putney. |

Feel like exploring your primal movement through ritual dance this autumn? Our teacher Nikki is offering an online container, Wellspring, which begins Nov 3rd. Across 8 weeks, we gather in the darkening nights to shake up our inner landscape through ritual dance. This is a freeform movement practice to music, where you remember the innate wisdom of your body, compost emotions, and create space for more aliveness and expression. Meeting online Tuesday evenings, 7-8.30pm GMT. Any body welcome. For more info and booking, go here. |
How Yoga Supports Nervous System Health |
We often come to yoga wanting to feel stronger, more flexible or calmer. But what if part of what keeps us coming back is what it does for our nervous system? In her new Journal article our very own Kylie Roberts explores how yoga can help us move between effort and recovery - and looks at stress, the vagus nerve, sleep, the gut-brain connection and even nerve flossing. As Kylie puts it, yoga isn't about escaping life, but developing the inner resources to meet it with greater steadiness, presence and ease. Read Kylie’s article → |
We know Yoga Teacher Training is a big decision. It’s time, money and - more importantly - you’re trusting somebody with a personal investment that means a lot to you. We're pleased that Sneha and Yogihearts are bringing their 200-hour training back to Phoenix for a second time. It combines six training days in our studio with six online. This isn’t just about collecting a certificate after twelve training days - it’s a chance to deepen your practice, understand yoga properly and learn to share it with confidence, care and with your personality intact. It's also for those who just want to understand yoga far beyond the poses (like I did). It is primarily for people who want to start teaching of course and once you have graduated with Yogihearts you will have the opportunity to teach our community classes here at Phoenix! Sneha is a hugely experienced, wonderful human and definitely not interested in producing identikit teachers. If YTT has been sitting quietly in your head have a look → |
Phoenix's Coming Home (or on Your Holiday / Trip) At long, long last (apologies everyone) we have finally got our Phoenix on Demand service up and running!! It means you can take a little bit of us with you - whether you’re travelling, working away from home or just stuck in traffic waiting to get across Putney Bridge! This isn’t Nike Yoga but we've gone for quality not quantity and have four practices from some of your favourite teachers - Bonita, Ellen and Kaya - including seated, stretching and gentle flows. It’s a small, useful collection for when you want to move, stretch, slow down or interrupt your day and feel slightly more human. We'll be adding more videos so ask your favourite teacher to record a session - or let us know! It’s included free with Monthly / Annual memberships and the 21-Day Intro and we're looking at getting free tasters out for everyone! Have a look → |
The Phoenix Journal is a place where you'll find a mixture of news, stories, people and ideas that make Phoenix what it is (it's also useful when you have insomnia;). If there’s a story you think belongs in the Journal, let us know! Onwards and Upwards! |
Popped in to Kew to see the Henry Moore gallery - this one gave me a yoga vibe!
If you've got a minute please leave a Google review. It will really help!
