Phoenix Yoga Newsletter — Mid-October 2026

Upstairs Downstairs

The opening paragraph of the last newsletter was celebrating walking around in shorts and a t-shirt in October! Well a few days later I got that nasty bug that’s going around and was under the weather for a week – look after yourselves!

The heating is back on in the studio, the fridge has been emptied of its contents (thanks Kaya!) and the debate about what to do with coats and cold weather clothing is underway (should we provide coat stands or ask people to use the changing rooms downstairs?).

It sounds mundane – because it is – but it’s had some interesting outcomes that we think you’ll like! More of that later – but the pictures in this newsletter are a clue.

Our second Yoga Teacher Training course will be starting on October 24th. We’ve still got a couple of places available – full details on the web page.

Proud to be Putney.

If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to email us at info@phoenixyoga.co.uk.

Changing Weather – Changing Rooms

The downstairs changing room at Phoenix Yoga

It only took a couple of chilly days for us to don our cold-weather clothes and, with so many classes close to capacity, we ran into the age-old problem of what to do with the coats.

You’ll remember that last year we invested in three very fine-looking coat stands, which invited everyone to pile their coats onto them. The inevitable overloading led to toppling coat stands and stacks of cold, damp coats piled up on the benches in reception.

We’re keen to avoid those scenarios again, so started enquiring (nicely) why people weren’t using the changing rooms (pictured) downstairs, and were very surprised at the number of people who didn’t even know there was a downstairs!

We’re now looking at new signage, but while we’re at it, we’ve also decided to make a few other changes around the studio, starting with the installation of some wonderful large-scale photos by Circe Hamilton, whose photographs you’ll already recognise from our website.

And while we’re doing that, we thought we’d ask you: what would you change or improve about our communal areas – reception, studios, corridors or even the toilets? We’d love to hear your suggestions, so please send us an email.

And yes, we’re still working on the coats.

Yoga Teacher Training

We know Yoga Teacher Training is a big decision. It’s time, money and – more importantly – you’re trusting somebody with a personal investment that means a lot to you.
