Mid-August 2026 Newsletter |
Phoenix Has A New Lease Of Life! We've been keeping a secret - for the last eighteen months we have been on a Tenancy at Will lease, which means we have been at risk of being evicted with zero notice! In that time we have undertaken major refurbishment works on the heating, sewage, roof, air con and flooring - as well as the installation of the new Soul studio - all at risk. So it is with great pleasure (and a serious amont of relief) that we can announce that we have finally completed on our 15 year lease!! This secures the future of Phoenix Yoga and will enable us to further establish Phoenix in the community. A big thank you to all those who have helped with the commercial lease negotiations - including Ali, Fiona, Isabel, Juliet, Kylie, Maria and Zara! Two years after floating the idea we have finally started our Video Library. It's a bit (very!!) rough around the edges and we'll be adding to the library but in the true spirity of Phoenix we thought we'd put it out there for now as many of you are away! On a personal note I'd like to thank all of you who signed my birthday vCard - the messages and love were truly appreciated! Proud to be Putney. |
If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to email us at info@phoenixyoga.co.uk. |

Thank you Alex, Marcus and Kristian for allowing us to add you to Our-Community page - our dedicated section of the new website. We now have nine members profiles up! To be included you don't need an extraordinary yoga story, a perfect pose or years of experience. If Phoenix has become part of your week, month, life your story belongs there too. To take part simply email us with: - A photograph you are happy for us to use
- A few lines about what brought you to Phoenix and what you found
- That's it!
We look forward to introducing you to more people who make Phoenix what it is! |
It’s easy to forget that we’ve been thinking for pretty much our whole lives. Meditation gives us a chance to work with the mind rather than simply be ruled by it. Meditation has always had a place at Phoenix, woven through Hatha and Yin, guided awareness and Yoga Nidra. This workshop gives us the chance to spend longer with it. In this workshop Kaya will guide you through different meditation practices, including breath, body awareness and visualisation, alongside some of the history and contemporary science behind what we’re doing. There’ll be time to practise, ask questions and explore what might work for you beyond the workshop. Kaya has been teaching yoga and meditation for more than ten years and will give you everything you need to take part. If you already meditate, it’s an opportunity to try something different. If you’ve never managed more than a few minutes before your mind heads elsewhere (like me!), you’ll be in good company. Explore our Meditation webpage → and sign up for the workshop |
Alex first came through the doors of The House of Yoga as a student like many of us trying to make sense of shapes his body seemed determined not to make. Alex progressed through teacher training. After studying, teaching and asking a lot more questions Alex was one of the first names we invited back to teaching at Phoenix as one of our senior teachers helping shape Phoenix. We've asked him to write his story and we think you'll love reading about Alex's pain, curiosity, anatomy, dialogue and learning that yoga is not about conquering poses but rather understanding the body you actually have. Read Alex’s story → Catch Alex's class: Sunday @11.30 - Yogalates, Monday @19.15 - Yin, Thursday @18.00 - Vinyasa |
Introducing The Phoenix Journal |
Our new Phoenix Journal is a place where you'll find a mixture of news, stories, people and ideas that make Phoenix what it is (it's also useful when you have insomnia!). You'll find loads of stories - including how we became community-owned and the day the studio flooded, to our teachers, members, partnerships and the occasional mishap along the way. The website tells you that Phoenix is community-owned, the Journal tells you how it happened, who made it happen and why it matters. So have a browse. Read something. Tell us what you think when you’re next in the studio. And if there’s a story you think belongs in the Journal, tell us that too. Explore the Phoenix Journal → Onwards and Upwards! |
