Your first visit

Come in.
We’ll show you around.

Feeling nervous is normal. Here is what actually happens—from choosing a class to leaving the studio.

The short version

You will be OK.

You do not need experience, flexibility, special clothes or your own mat.

Arrive ten to fifteen minutes early and leave your shoes outside the studio door. Your teacher will greet you, show you where everything is and help you settle in.

Nobody else will be wondering whether you know what you are doing. They will be thinking about their own class.

Before you come

Leggings, joggers, a T-shirt—whatever feels comfortable. We practise barefoot, so you do not need special shoes.

BringA water bottle, if you would like one.
BorrowA mat, blocks, straps and bolsters. There is no charge.

When you arrive

The front room is the front room.

Leave your shoes outside the studio door. Your teacher will greet you, show you where to put your things and help you settle in.

They will ask whether you have any injuries, are pregnant or if there is anything else they should know. A quiet word is enough.

You do not have to make conversation with anyone else. You do not have to arrive looking calm. You only need enough time not to feel rushed.

During class

Resting is part of the class.

Your teacher will explain what is happening and give different options. Take the one that works for your body today. If none of them does, pause.

No one is grading the shape you make. First class or fiftieth, the job is simply to notice what you need.

You can rest in Child’s Pose at any point. No questions asked.

Afterwards

Tea is optional. The invitation is real.

Some people stay and talk. Some leave feeling lighter and head straight home. Over time, familiar faces become friends—but nobody requires sociability as the price of belonging.

If the class was not quite right, ask us what to try next. One class is information, not a verdict on yoga.

A useful bit of reassurance

Nervous people come here all the time.

I did my first ever yoga class today. Sarah was so welcoming, warm and kind—and I had the best time.
